Boilerhouse-designed conference microsite aggregates content and pulls in new audiences

Boilerhouse conceived and designed the microsite www.socitm09.net for the annual conference of its client Socitm, a professional association of public sector IT professionals. The site was designed very quickly and cheaply using open source tools readily available on the web (WordPress, Slideshare, Flickr, Vimeo, Twitter). A small team of social reporters and a photographer generated the ‘official’ content for the website, guided editorially by Vicky Sargent of Boilerhouse. Delegates and, significantly, a large external audience followed the event online and contributed content, particularly via Twitter, with a hashtag pulling ‘tweets’ through into the site. The activity raised the profile and reach of the event significantly, which featured speakers from Google, IBM, Birmingham City Council and many others, with a keynote speech from former No. 10 policy wonk Geoff Mulgan.
